What It Feels Like

Not the best place for families with very young children or people who need lots of activities and nightlife because here the main entertainment is the nature itself and peaceful walks.

How To Get There
Most people fly to Salzburg first and then take a train or bus to Hallstatt. The journey from Salzburg takes around two and a half hours with nice views along the way. You can also rent a car but parking in the village is limited so many visitors leave cars at the big parking and walk or take a short boat. In winter some roads can be tricky but public transport works quite reliably.

Hallstatt really gives strong holiday feeling especially when you stay few days and let yourself sink into the slow rhythm. The combination of lake, mountains and charming old houses creates something very special. It loses just a little bit because in peak times it can get crowded and some days weather can be rainy, but overall its one of the most serene and holiday-like mountain villages you can find in Europe.
